Is NSAC’s Veterinary Technology Program Right for You?
To be successful in the Veterinary Technology program, you must be a dedicated, passionate student with a love of animals and medicine.
Veterinary technicians have diverse areas of responsibility which include:
- Client education
- Nursing
- Animal husbandry
- Surgery
- Anesthesia
- Laboratory diagnostics
- Radiology
- Pharmacy
- Reception
- Hospital office management
The day-to-day duties will have you working closely with the veterinarians and other hospital staff including receptionists, kennel attendants and veterinary assistants. Veterinary technicians must have strong communication skills, as taking a leadership role in client communications is a critical aspect of your work.
While you will work directly with people, being a veterinary technician requires hard work, dedication and the ability to acquire a solid foundation of knowledge in many areas.
Students that excel in veterinary technology are those that understand the level of responsibility and commitment it takes to excel in this profession. The commitment to the profession starts the first day you enter the NSAC veterinary technology program.
