Residence Handbook
Living in residence provides opportunities for making lifelong friends, fun-filled participation in house/campus organizations and events, academic growth and spiritual and social development.
It is truly a unique experience. At no other time in your life will you participate in late night study groups in your PJs or 3 a.m. tea parties in the lounge or find someone next door to help you with an assignment at 10 o’clock at night. There will always be someone to go out for coffee, share a pizza, study with, have a snow ball fight or walk you to the library. It will be like having 50 sisters to borrow clothes from or having your hockey team living with you – it’s awesome.
Residence is your home away from home. Bring some fun items to individualize your room and create a space that is comfortable for you (check this handbook to ensure you don’t bring something you’re not supposed to, and remember no tacks or nails in the walls please).
Residence staff, along with your elected house councils and your Students’ Union, will offer a variety of events and activities. Get involved in as many activities as your schedule allows. It is great fun and most events gain points for your residence team in the House Challenge. It is very important to keep the Residence teams’ points high to ensure that the pesky Off Campus Team does not win the trophy. Get involved to ensure we keep the trophy in Residence.
In order to get the most from university life, be a participant. Those who work at meeting people, making friends and supporting campus clubs and organizations are invariably those who look back on their university years as some of the best and happiest ones of their lives.
Make the most of your time in residence. Study hard, get involved and have fun. It’s going to be a great year!
