Scholarships
and Bursaries
Who doesn’t like free money, especially when you’re
a student? One of the best ways to help pay for school is to
apply for scholarships and bursaries. These awards are provided
to students to help finance their university education, and
are not required to be repaid. Scholarships and bursaries are
awarded by the university you attend and also by external organizations.
Selection criteria for scholarships and bursaries can be very
different. Scholarships tend to be awarded according to academic
achievement, and are based on grades from high school and university.
Bursaries are generally awarded to students with financial need.
Many universities provide entrance scholarships to students
exiting high school, so make sure you consult your university
to see if you qualify for one of these awards. There are a large
number of organizations, community groups, individuals, and
companies that also provide scholarships and bursaries for students.
Research potential sources of awards and take advantage of this
great opportunity for funding!
