IB Admission and Advanced Standing
The Nova Scotia Agricultural College welcomes applications from IB students. IB applicants will be assessed on an individual basis. Applicants are expected to have Higher Level or Standard Level course work in the subject areas required for admission into the program for which they are applying. Applicants who have not completed the IB Diploma are required to have a high school completion certificate.
Students may be eligible for advanced credit standing based
on their International Baccalaureate (IB) results. Course
credits, up to a maximum of 10, may be awarded for students
with Higher Level IB class scores of 5, 6, or 7. Students
who have successfully completed their International Baccalaureate
Diploma with a total score of 30 or higher are guaranteed
10 course credits in the B.Sc.(Agr.) program (a 40 course
program). Those wishing to apply for credit at NSAC must
supply an official transcript of grades to the Registrar's
Office. The student will be notified once the assessment
is complete.

- Students who have completed IB courses but do not possess the diploma will be considered for credit based on their course work. Credit is given for IB courses completed at the Higher Level with grades of 5, 6 or 7

IB Scholarships
All students graduating with an IB Diploma will receive an Entrance Scholarship to attend NSAC.
●Atlantic Scholars Award
At least one renewable scholarship valued at $9,400/year (providing full tuition and residence at shared room rate) will be awarded to an outstanding student graduating with an IB program. Applicants must have a predicted score of 36 and be entering a full-time program of study at NSAC to be eligible.
●Renewable Entrance Scholarships
$10,000 Total Value/$2,500 per year – renewable Entrance Scholarships will be awarded to IB Diploma candidates with an overall predictor score of 36 or higher. The award will be continued during the recipient’s undergraduate program by maintaining an 80% average each year and an on-going registration in at least 80% of the normal course load for the program. Proof of graduation with an IB diploma will be required.
$7,000 Total Value/$2,500 for First Year, and Renewed at $1,500 Per Year – renewable Entrance Scholarships will be awarded to IB Diploma candidates with an overall predictor score of 33-35. The award will be continued during the recipient’s undergraduate program by maintaining an 80% average each year and an on-going registration in at least 80% of the normal course load for the program. Proof of graduation with an IB diploma will be required.
●Entrance Scholarships:
NSAC guarantees an Entrance Scholarship to all students who graduate with IB diplomas. Students not qualifying for the above noted awards will receive a minimum Entrance Scholarship if they begin their studies in September on the following basis:
$2,500 (non-renewable) – An Entrance Scholarship of $2,500 will be awarded to IB Diploma graduates with a predictor score from 30 - 32.
$1,500 (non-renewable) – An Entrance Scholarship of $1,500 will be awarded to IB Diploma graduates with a predictor score from 28 - 29.
$1,000 (non-renewable) – An Entrance Scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded to IB Diploma graduates with a predictor score from 24 - 27.
Entrance scholarships, valued at 50% of the above amounts, are also available to students who begin their studies in January.
Offers of the above scholarships to IB students will be guaranteed based on predicted scores. Actual scholarship awards will be increased to the respective level if final IB scores move a student to a higher category than the predicted score scholarship offer. For students whose final IB scores drop lower than the predicted score, the initial scholarship offer will be maintained. NSAC’s IB Scholarship Program is dedicated to students who graduate with an IB diploma. IB students who do not satisfy the requirements for the diploma will receive scholarships through the regular Guaranteed Entrance Scholarship Program.
