Undergraduate Projects
I supervise two to three undergraduate students per year as
part of the research methods courses (RESM4002/4003). Typical
subject areas are use of digital image analysis to assess conformation
and product quality, and conservation of farm animal genetic
resources. Recent projects include:
Danielle Broaders: 2005. Genetic ancestry influence on the
Newfoundland Pony phenotype.
Ashley Ernst: 2005. The effect of conformation on pulling
horse performance.
Mark Rose: 2005. Comparison of pork loin composition of pigs
fed different levels of wheat middlings. (Co-supervised with
D. Anderson)
Patty Jo Hickey: 2004. Do the animals carrying the leptin
genotype sell for a higher price in the 2004 Maritime beef
market? (Co-supervised with F.Nicholson)
Holly Hines: 2004. Udder size of Jersey cows and relation
to milk production.
Kathleen Meagher: 2004. A breeding plan for Fortress of Louisburg
animal stocks.
Elizabeth Rutherford: 2004. Use of geographic information
systems in rare breed conservation.
