Q. How does my child apply to NSAC? A. For information on admissions procedures please

Q. How can I obtain an NSAC calendar? A. The NSAC calendar is a comprehensive publication
of all of our rules, regulations, program and course descriptions,

Q. Where is the Registry located? A. The Registry, also known as the Registrar's Office,
is located on the main floor of Cox Institute on Pictou Road.

information on registering for courses, student records,
grades, confirmations of enrolment and graduation, permissions
for off-campus study, student appeals, examinations, etc.

Q. How do I make a financial inquiry, i.e. pay fees?
A. For information about tuition, residence and fees, student
loans, scholarships, and related issues, please visit our Money
Matters site. This comprehensive site will provide you with
current information and supply you with links to external sites
that will guide you through the student loan process.
Account payments can be made by parents or students through
the Financial
Services office. Due to Protection of Privacy policies,
we cannot divulge specific financial information to parents
without the permission of the student. If you would like to
make an account payment, we recommend that parents check with
students for the account balance, and call Financial Services
with that payment amount in mind.
Q. How does my child apply for scholarships and award
consideration? A. NSAC is proud to offer one of the strongest university
scholarship programs available. One in three of our students
is a recipient of a scholarship, bursary or award. Students
coming directly from high school are automatically considered
for entrance scholarships, and no application is necessary.
We also offer many application-based scholarships, ranging in
monetary value, with our largest being the Atlantic Scholars
Award of $35 000 over four years.
In addition to scholarships, we offer many bursaries and awards.
Most of these can be applied for in early September, with monies
being awarded in October of the year of attendance. These scholarships
are awarded based on financial need, academic success, area
of interest, and many other criteria dependant upon the award.

Q. How do students receive Tuition Tax Receipts (T2202A)? A. T2202A forms will be available to students on their Web Advisor Accounts prior to Feb 28th. The tax forms can be printed from there. Due to privacy issues, requests for T2202A forms must be made directly by the student. For more information or questions on T2202A please contact Financial Services office at 902.893.4369.
Q. Is there a banking facility on campus? A. There is an ATM located in the basement of Cox Institute.
There are also a wide variety of banking and other financial
institutions available in Truro and Bible Hill, many within
walking distance.
Q. Is there a library on campus? A. MacRae library is in the centre of campus, and available
to students throughout the year. The library offers many services
to students, including an information commons for computer access,
electronic journals and databases, an extensive collection of
journals and publications, wireless computer connections, and
many more services. The library also offers students assistance
in finding specific articles, as well as teaching students how
to research for their own papers and projects. For hours of

NSAC is a member of Novanet, which is a consortium of Nova
Scotia universities and colleges that share resources. Students
can easily access and order articles, journals and other publications
from other institutions, and have them delivered to them here
at NSAC.

Q. Where do students get their ID cards? A. Photo ID cards are produced by Student Services
in the Dairy Building, and
students can have these created at any time during the year.
Lost ID cards will be replaced at a charge of $10.00.
Q. Are postal facilities available on campus? A. Yes, postal facilities are located in the basement
of Cumming Hall. Students
can buy postage stamps and send letters and parcels from this
facility. Residence students can receive mail in their individual
mailboxes in the lobby of their residence.
Q. How can student services assist my son/daughter?
A. NSAC's Student Services strives to provide exceptional support
for students. The Student Services Department is located in
the Dairy Building, and their website is available at www.nsac.ca/stuserv/
Here you will find information about the wide range
of health, residence & food, athletic, career, tutoring,
educational support and scholarship services available to your
son or daughter.
NSAC is home to students from around the world, and we work
hard to provide the special orientation and support that these
students need. Through international student advisors, a department
dedicated to international students and issues, and activities
throughout the year, our international students feel comfortable
and safe on the NSAC campus. For more information about International

NSAC is committed to the equitable treatment of students with
disabilities, and provides exceptional services and support
to students with a range of physical and learning disabilities.
The Nova Scotia Department of Education provides support for
post-secondary students with a permanent learning disability
and/or a physical/mental disability. NSAC students may seek
assistance from a Department Disability Resource Facilitator
located on campus. Documentation (a Psych Ed assessment for
a learning disability; a letter from a doctor if a physical
disability) must be provided with regards to the disability
and its impact on learning. The Disability Resource Facilitator
can assist Canadian students with funding applications for resources
(i.e. Canada Study Grant). Students from other countries must
apply to their respective home countries for similar funding.
If accepted by the Department of Education (Rehabilitation Programs
and Services) as a client such things as tutoring, note taking,
interpreters (for hearing impaired) and FM systems may be funded.
Our Educational Support Services is coordinated by Lorie Reeves,
Disability Resource Facilitator, and is located in the Dairy

A peer tutoring program provided by Student Services is available
for all NSAC students. To access the service, students meet
with the program co-coordinator, sign a contract and are matched
with an appropriate tutor. Students may seek help for more than
one subject area at a time. Each student normally receives 2
hours of tutoring each week for each course. For more about

Q. Is there a student health centre on campus? A. Yes! Health Services provides on-campus nursing
assessment, health counselling, emergency first aid, and referrals
to other health care professionals. Other services include health
education, stress relief, equipment loans and support groups.

Q. What is available through NSAC's athletic centre? A. NSAC's Langille Athletic Centre provides many recreational
services, including:
Scotia Pool, with classes,
free swims, etc.; located at Agri-Tech park campus
Main and auxiliary gymnasium for varsity games, indoor soccer,
student use, etc.
Strength training equipment with free weights and machines
Cardio equipment including treadmills, stair climbers, bikes,
ellyptical machines
Racquetball and squash courts
NSAC students are not required to purchase a membership,
and are able to use the athletic centre's

Q. Are there counselling services on campus? A. NSAC provides health and sexual counselling through
our health services office. Please visit the Health Services,

learn more about the services provided to students.
Q. Is there a campus ministry program at NSAC? A. Students and staff at NSAC are welcome to join the
AC Christian Fellowship club. This club meets to discuss issues
brought up by members, offers events on campus and helps new
students (and old) maintain their ties to the Church while away
at school.
Truro is also home to many religions and faiths, and many churches
are within walking distance of the NSAC campus.
Q. Is there a career resource centre on campus? A. NSAC's Career Services office provides students
with career guidance, access to relevant and current job listings,
assistance with resume and letter writing, and practice interviews.
We have plenty of student jobs available on campus during the
summer and academic year, and we also post jobs in the community
and beyond for careers and off-campus employment during the
summer and academic year.

Q. Do students have advisors?
A. NSAC is committed to providing students with assistance in
their transition to university life, and guidance throughout
the academic process. First Year Advisors are assigned to all
first-year students, and assist students with a wide variety
of issues that can be encountered during this transitional period,
from time management to program selection. Once students enter
their second year they are assigned a Program Advisor to help
them with their course selection and overall program planning.
NSAC is proud to provide a safe and secure environment for
students. The Safety and Security Office is located in the Dairy
Building, and works to provide a safe atmosphere for all who
live and work on campus. Some of the safety and security practices
in place include:
A 24-hour campus security service
All pay phones on the NSAC Campus and Agri-Tech Park are
equipped with a direct line to the security office.
We have a well-lit campus for evening walks home, and our
Safety and Security employees offer escorts to residence after
evening classes or studying at the library or computer lab.
In addition to Residence Assistances, all residences are
occupied by Residence Dons, adult supervisors who live in
the building.

University Bookstore The NSAC bookstore offers a multitude of services to
the student community. It is a well-stocked retail operation
selling textbooks and reference books for all courses, general
interest books and novels, a full line of stationary and office
supplies, computer related items, and university crested clothing
and gift items.
