The Official Opening of the Jean Watson Bulb Garden
The Watson Bulb Garden is a newly developed area directly adjacent to the NSAC Rock Garden. Tucked into an evergreen dell surrounded by mature shrubs, the garden encompasses both sides of a path considered a main thoroughfare in the centre of campus. The garden was prepared in the fall of 2010 with the installation of approximately 2000 bulbs. The species included selections that were deer resistant and small in stature - all uniquely suited to alpine garden plantings.

Hiring of Relatives
A reminder to supervisors hiring summer students that the NSAC is subject to the Fair Hiring Policy of the provincial government. As such, immediate family members are not to be employed in a department where there is potential for conflict of interest or perceived conflict of interest, between the employee and the immediate family member. Hiring managers and selection panel members are required to disqualify themselves as participants in the selection process when their objectivity would be compromised, or perceived to be compromised and/or where a candidate is a member of the employee's immediate family.
In addition, the persons conducting interviews have a responsibility to make candidates aware of this provision and to inquire as to immediate family relationships that would exist if the candidate were to be appointed to the position. Under this policy immediate family includes father, mother, step-parents, brother, half-brother, step-brother, sister, half-sister, step-sister, spouse, child of the employee, father-in-law, mother-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, step child, ward of the employee, grandparent or grandchild of the employee and a relative permanently residing in the employee's household or with whom the employee permanently resides.
