NSAC Sets Tuition
NSAC has set its tuition fees for the 2011-2012 academic year. Like most universities in Nova Scotia, an increase of three per cent will see tuition rates for degree programs increase by $16 per course while technical tuition will increase by ten.
“Our tuition rates are competitive with other university science programs in Nova Scotia,” said NSAC Co-President Dr. Leslie MacLaren. “We look at every option to control tuition fees because we know the financial burden it places on students and their families.”

Commuter Challenge 2011
Commuter Challenge starts in 3 days! Are you ready for the Commuter Challenge?
It starts Sunday, June 5. You still have time to register and to get your bicycle tuned up, arrange a car pool, or buy some bus tickets.
Register today at www.commuterchallenge.ca and see which department has the highest number of healthy commuters!
This year, Service Nova Scotia and Municipal Relations is challenging all other government departments and agencies to participate, in support of Nova Scotia's 2020 Vision, which includes improving the air we breathe http://www.gov.ns.ca/nse/pollutionprevention/docs/2020FactSheet.pdf
1. Scroll down to "Register as an Individual." Choose the province and city (the registration page does not recognize that one department can have many offices across the province).
2. Click "Next Step" and you'll see a drop-down list where you select your department. If your department is not listed, click "Back to login" and then "Register a Workplace." (You will need the number of employees in your department.)
3. When that is completed, proceed to "Register as an individual."
Now you can choose your own department. Remember your password. On June 5, start logging in daily to register your method of getting to work and the number of kilometers in your round trip. Working from home is considered a "telecommute" so include those days too! Results are calculated so you can see how other departments are doing-and round up more co-workers to participate!
We encourage as many people as possible from all over Nova Scotia to commute and register your results. Service Nova Scotia Municipal Relations thinks they will rise to the top....let's give them a run for their money! Demonstrate your commitment to our environment. Register today.

Ultimate Frisbee Club on Campus for Summer
As the season (slowly) turns to summer, it's time for the ultimate Frisbee club to start. This summer ultimate will be played Monday and Wednesdays at noon on the NSAC soccer field, weather permitting. The first game is planned for Wednesday, June 8.
For those unfamiliar with ultimate, it is a non-contact game where two teams compete to pass the Frisbee among players into a target end zone. Typically a short game of catch is played until 12:15 to allow players a chance to get ready and then the game is played until 1:00. This is open to all students/staff/faculty of NSAC, as well as members of the community.
No special equipment is needed and all levels of skill are welcome. The emphasis of this club is very much on getting active, having fun and social interaction within NSAC campus and community. If you have never played or heard of ultimate frisbee before, you will fit in with this group.
This club is designed to be "drop-in", so players can join at any time of the season and have the flexibility to play when time permits. Generally an e-mail list is made up to contact those people who are interested to play, simply to alert them to certain days when the field may not be available (due to weather or grounds crew maintenance).
If interested, please contact Mason MacDonald m2macdonald@nsac.ca or you can talk to Ashley Simms asimms@nsac.ca at the front desk of the Athletic Center.
