Year End Details
Financial Services would like to point out some of the most critical dates for you when it comes to submitting source documents to the CSU for processing in fiscal 2009/2010.
In order to ensure that there is sufficient time to process your documents for the current year please adhere to the following dates:
All postings to Accounts Payable April 9
All postings to internal orders (TCA expenditures) April 19
All Journal Voucher postings to the General Ledger April 23

Energy Awareness Week Ends Tomorrow
There is still one day left of activities for Energy Awareness Week at NSAC. Here are the details:
Friday, March 19
Fuel Efficiency Workshop
1 p.m.
Riverview Room, Jenkins Hall
Clean Nova Scotia’s Drivewiser discuss the ways we can improve our fuel efficiency and consumption. Snacks to be provided.
Movie Night: Who Killed the Electric Car?
7 p.m.
Cox Institute, room 257
A documentary that explores the creation, limited commercialization, and subsequent destruction of the electric car in the US. Guest speaker to follow.
WUSC Coffee House
The WUSC Fair Trade Committee has organized a coffee house on March 24 from
6 p.m. -9 p.m. featuring Juno winning blues singer Morgan Davis. The event is at Roadside Willies with all tickets sales going to the Breaking the Silence Fair Trade coffee farm who has recently had a large amount of their inventory stolen.
Tickets are $10 per person but they must be sold in advanced in order for the restaurant to be able to host the event. If 60 tickets are not sold by the end of this week the venue is cancelled and the coffee house, which is WUSC's major fundraiser, will have to be cancelled.

Atlantic Agrology Workshop
The 2010 Atlantic Agrology Workshop will be held on Nov.4 and Nov.5. Before they finalize the list of speakers, they would like to hear from you.
If you have a speaker that you would like to have invited to the workshop or if you have a topic that you would like to see a speaker on or if you are a speaker and would like to speak at the Workshop, please e-mail nsagrologists@eastlink.ca no later than Wednesday, March 31.

Recruitment Update
It's a busy time in the Recruitment Office following up with the students who visited NSAC during University Day, providing campus tours to prospective students and their families and answering many questions applicants sending in. Here are some of the other projects the recruitment team have been working on this week:
- Monica is visiting high schools and agricultural universities in Colombia and reports very successful results.
- A new International Student Guide has been developed to assist with our recruiting of international students.
- A promotion plan for the International Food Business program was developed with a press release and an ad being prepared for distribution.
- Ashley and Sarah Morris have been working on a student contact campaign as part of a Xerox pilot project.
- Sponsorship has been arranged to support the Nova Scotia Secondary School Students Association Conference.
Canadian Institute of Food Science and Technology Presentation
The Atlantic Section of the Canadian Institute of Food Science and Technology (CIFST) would like to invite you to attend the April 2009 presentation/luncheon on the topic:
"Blending Food Science and Culinary Arts through Culinology"
This presentation will highlight the activities of the Culinary Institute at Canada's Smartest Kitchen in Holland College, PEI, and their collaborations with food scientists and the Atlantic food industry.

North American Mobility Program

Scholarship Spotlight

Isgonish IODE Silver Anniversary Bursary Presented at NSAC
Chuyuan Zhang, Xilian, China, a fourth year B.Sc.(Agr.) Aquaculture student, was presented with the $400 Isgonish IODE Silver Anniversary Bursary at NSAC’s Scholarship Banquet. Selection criteria includes financial need, academic performance and participation and leadership in extracurricular activities. Isgonish IODE representatives, Ms. Ruth Smith and Ms. Joan Stewart, attended the Scholarship Banquet and are shown congratulating Chuyuan.
