NSAC Annual Open House
NSAC's annual Open House is just around the corner! This year’s event is being held on Thursday, July 22.
NSAC has been hosting an open house for the last 39 years! The university continues to support the event in an effort to engage and educate the community in the activities of the university.
We need everyone's support to make this year’s event successful. We'll be holding a meeting today from 2 - 3 p.m.in the C.A. Douglas room. Let’s come together and show the community what we're all about!
We will have snacks and drinks for the meeting!
Another successful year for Tractor Safety Training
Continuing Education has been offering a tractor safety course for young Nova Scotia tractor drivers since 2007. The course is designed to allow those with a NS class eight (tractor) license to learn tractor safety, safe use and hauling of trailed implements and highway regulations. Students who successfully complete the course are eligible to have a condition 15 endorsement added to their drivers license. The condition 15 endorsement allows them to haul implements between 4500 and 14 000 kg on Nova Scotia's public roads.
Thirty-one students participated in the course this spring/summer (11 from NSAC). Thanks to instructors Scott Read, Alden Knight and Stewart Yuill for being committed to the course and doing a great job.
A special thank you goes out to Blueline New Holland for donating one of the tractors used in teaching and testing this past weekend at NSAC Farm.
Tractor Safety Students must be able to back up a tractor with an implement attached as part of the driving test.

RCMP SAFE Plan (School Action For Emergencies)
NSAC is working with the local detachment of the RCMP to develop a site specific law
enforcement program at NSAC or SAFE Plan –School Action for Emergencies. Members of the RCMP will be on campus over the next several weeks developing an effective operational planning and support tool when responding to serious university incidents.
The RCMP SAFE Plan, modeled after Peel Regional Police’s proven school response program, was developed to allow members access to site specific information on schools in their respective detachment areas. The SAFE Plan can be used in the event of an armed suspect on campus, bomb threats, chemical spills, biochemical incidents or any event that requires extraordinary deployment of resources. Surf and Turf Golf Tournament
The Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Surf) and Department of Agriculture (Turf) are teaming up once again to host the 2010 Surf and Turf Golf Tournament in support of United Way. This year's event is being held Friday, September 10 at Mountain Golf Course, just outside of Truro. The cost is $50.00 for all the fun you can handle!
This tournament has been a major contributor for the department's United Way Campaign. It's a fun scramble, so skill is not a concern! We accept teams of four or individual registrations and would welcome any individuals or teams from NSAC.
For something a wee bit different this year, there is a theme for the tournament, so haul out your favorite Hawaiian Shirt!
