Government of Canada invests in Organic Agriculture
The Government of Canada is investing in cutting-edge research
to grow market opportunities and maintain a bright future for
the Canadian organic industry. An investment of $6.5 million
will bring together scientific expertise from academia, industry
and government to develop more efficient and profitable processes
for organic farmers, Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz and MP
Scott Armstrong (Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley)

Mature Student Orientation Session
There will be a Mature Student Orientation session on September
5 from 10:30-11:30
in the C. A Douglas Room in Cumming Hall.

Continuing and Distance Ed newsletter Available
The August edition of the Continuing and Distance Education newsletter is now available.
On Friday, August 20th, Continuing Education welcomed Karen Pryorand her granddaughters
for a visit while they were on vacation. Heather Logan (a sessional lecturer
at NSAC and an animal behaviour consultant) took Karen on tour of her service
dog training program at the Nova Institute for Women, and stopped at NSAC afterwards
to tour campus and to talk with Continuing Education staff about their new
course in Operant Conditioning being offered this fall.

Smoking Policy Update
NSAC's new smoking policy was scheduled to take effect on
September 1st, However, signage for the designated
smoking areas is not yet in place. The policy
will not be enforced until these areas are clearly marked. Once the signs
are in place, campus will be notified and a map indicating these areas
will be available. Thank you for your patience during this transition.
Chamber Business Luncheon
ACOA Minister and Minister of National Revenue Keith Ashfield
will be on the NSAC campus on the morning of September 9th,
2010 to meet with members of the executive team and tour two
ACOA funded projects. Minister Ashfield will also be guest
speaker at the Chamber Business Luncheon later that day where
he will speak about the importance of innovation to Canada,
to the Atlantic region and to Nova Scotia.
When: Thursday, September 9th. 12 to 1:30 pm
Where: Holiday Inn, Truro
$16 per member of any Chamber of Commerce. $21 for potential
members.
