Wind Energy & Agriculture Lecture
Speaker: Paul Gipe (author, advocate and renewable energy industry analyst)
Date: Tuesday, Sept. 29
Time: 2 p.m.
Location: Cox Institute, room 31
Paul has written extensively about renewable energy for both the popular and trade press and lectured widely on wind energy and how to minimize its impact on the environment and the communities it is a part of.
In 2004, he launched a campaign to bring electricity feed laws back to North America, resulting in renewable energy feed-in tariffs in Canada and the U.S.. For his efforts, the World Wind Energy Association presented Gipe with their World Wind Energy Award in 2008. The World Renewable Energy Congress honored him as a "pioneer" in 1998 and the American Wind Energy Association named him as the industry's "person of the year" in 1988.

Borrow Anywhere/Return Anywhere Pilot Program Launch
On Monday, Sept. 28, the MacRae Library will join with the other academic and public libraries in Nova Scotia to bring Libraries Nova Scotia’s Borrow Anywhere/Return Anywhere (BARA) service to the province.
Libraries Nova Scotia is a multi-type library collaboration, comprised of all university, college and public libraries in Nova Scotia. Its mission is to contribute to the development of sustainable communities in Nova Scotia through providing all Nova Scotians with seamless, barrier-free access to the world’s information sources. Nova Scotia's public, university and community college libraries have a wealth of information in their collections and this initiative will make these valuable resources easily available to all Nova Scotians who have a library card. Over 100 library locations are available through BARA!
No matter where you are in Nova Scotia, the closest library is your library. Separate cards are no longer required for each type of library. Once you register your NSAC ID card for borrowing at the MacRae Library, you can simply take your NSAC ID card to any academic or public library in the province and you will be registered for borrowing there too. You can confidently participate in BARA knowing that the province's libraries will be managing your returns to home branches as well. The BARA program is offered at no cost to you.
More information can be found at the Libraries Nova Scotia website at librariesns.ca. This Pilot Project will run until Sept. 30, 2010. Comments and questions can be directed to the Library at 893-6669 or library@nsac.ca

NSAC Merchandise Orders
NSAC merchandise previously sold through the Marketing Department is now taken care of by the Print Centre. Items can still be viewed at nsac.ca/marketing/services/merchandise but all orders are now placed with Glenn Desmond through his e-mail (xerox@nsac.ca).
Once your order is processed you will be charged the same way as a print job. This means less paper used and less paperwork for you. However, all orders must be sent with your cost centre and GL number.
New environmentally and socially conscious merchandise is constantly being ordered so check the website periodically for new additions.
Branded Working Documents
Don't forget, the Marketing Department has developed an editable memo PDF, an editable fax cover sheet PDF and a shipping label to save you the time of creating one. These should be the only memo, cover sheets and shipping labels used.
