Unveiling of Class of '54 Project
NSAC's Class of '54 celebrated their 55th reunion this year. In recognition of this occasion, class members donated a metal arch as a new entrance to the Alumni Gardens. The new entrance replaces the former wooden structure that was destroyed by vandals. The entrance, which was custom built by a local blacksmith, is much more durable and will stand to represent the Class of '54 for many years!
Join members of the Class of '54 and other alumni for an official "unveiling" of their class project!
Where: Entrance to Alumni Gardens
When: Friday, Nov. 13
Time: 3:30p.m.
Go Green Challenge - $25,000 Cash Prize
The TD Friends of the Environment Foundation’s (TD FEF) $100,000 Go Green Challenge is back again this year! Just in case you’ve forgotten, the annual academic competition is open to Canadian university and college students and requires the submission of an essay with creative, workable plans for promoting greener communities. This year's theme is Reducing Canada’s Ecological Footprint. If you have a great, green idea on how to reduce Canada’s ecological footprint, develop a proposal with a team of two or more, along with a faculty sponsor, and submit your essay online (maximum 4,000 words and 20 pages) outlining your viable idea or proposal by Jan. 15, 2010 for a chance to win 1 of 4 prizes of $25,000!
You can check out the winning ideas from last year’s competition by watching a video at tdfef.com/gogreen (just click “Last Year’s Winners”) or by reading this article at fef.td.com/news_mar23_09. These were the submissions that won each team of students $25,000!
The TD FEF aims to make it easier to “Go Green” by encouraging the development of eco-friendly ideas and awareness through this annual $100,000 Go Green Challenge. To learn more check out the TD FEF website at tdfef.com
Sustainable Transportation Survey
Nova Scotia Agricultural College has teamed up with Clean Nova Scotia to research sustainable transportation options for the campus. We are working towards implementing a green mobility plan and would like to receive input from the campus community on their travel patterns. This Sustainable Transportation Survey will provide us with a solid understanding of the current transportation practices taking place. We encourage all students, staff and faculty to take part in the survey. The information you provide will allow us to make informed decisions over the next year. The results of the survey will be presented back to the campus community after results are analyzed.
NSAC's survey can be found at surveymonkey.com
I thank you for your co-operation and your interest in matters of Sustainable Transportation. If you have any questions regarding the project please feel free to contact me. I would be happy to discuss the project and provide any information that you are requesting.

Photos of the Day

On Saturday, Oct. 31, over 60 international students celebrated Halloween at NSAC. For many, it was a first time experience to dress up and carve a pumpkin. Emmanuel Nsabimana, the ISA president, and NSAC International helped organize the event along with a dedicated group of students. Many thanks to all the students that helped set up and clean up afterwards. A special thanks to Cheryl Long for her fantastic help and costumes. A big thank you to Chartwells for their donation to the event.
