NSAC Student Hoping to Sponsor Refugee
NSAC student Stephanie Gillis is looking for help. She's
hoping to sponsor a 24-year-old refugee to come to Canada.
Ephraim (the refugee) fled his hometown of Eritea to Sudan,
Africa in 2005 after being tortured and arrested for practising
his Christian beliefs.
Stephanie needs a group of five people to come together
to provide a sponsorship program. She and a friend have
already committed. The group will be responsible to help
Ephraim with lodging, food, clothing, medical care, search
for employment, etc. The group also must raise $9,500, to
provide for Ephraim for 12 months. After a year of citizenship,
Ephraim could apply for a student loan and possibly attend
NSAC.
Anyone able to help, either as a sponsor or through donations,
should contact Stephanie at gilliss@nsac.ca
or 843-2624. Stephanie is also fundraising for the cause
by selling tubs of cookie dough until March 16.

New Business Card Design Available
We have gotten a great deal of feedback on the layout issues
associated with the current design of NSAC business cards.
Those with longer names and many accreditations were having
difficulty fitting their information on the cards. As such,
we have evolved the design so it will better meet the needs
of our campus community. In addition, our cards will be
more environmentally friendly. They will be printed in our
NSAC Print Centre which reduces the transportation needs
for delivery, and the ink used is less toxic, more efficient
and takes far less energy to produce than regular toner.
And the business cards will be FSC (Forestry Stewardship
Council) certified, the most sustainable standard available
for printed material. The cards are available to order through
our NSAC Print Centre. You pay the same per card no matter
how many you order so you can order as few as you wish.
To be as green as possible in your ordering, we suggest
printing as you need them to avoid waste and we also suggest
not ordering new cards until you have finished your previous
ones. To order new cards, please submit your order at http://nsac.ca/development/marketing/services/stationary.asp.
