Recruitment Update
Hello all!
It's been a few weeks since my last update. We've been extremely
busy this month on- and off-campus. As the school year winds
down for campus, our work seems to intensify in preparation
for the next recruiting year! We're working on converting
applicants to students!
What's new?
Believe it or not, we begin in June with Interchange, a conference
for guidance counselors, recruiters and registrars and admissions
officers. Also in the works are the upcoming FFA State Conventions.
Since last October, Recruitment has been fostering close
ties with FFA schools and as you know, have been traveling
to New England frequently. So far, we've received nine applications
from the USA. Craig is getting ready to attend the Maine
FFA State Convention and then on to Vermont's and I will
be attending
Connecticut's. Again, this is the best strategy to meet prospective
students and their families. Next week, Heather Hughes will
be representing NSAC at Techsploration, a conference for
female high school students interested in science and careers
in science. We have room to send more female scientists on
May 8. Please call me if you are interested. We're also
pleased to announce that we are welcoming a new team member
of the Enrollment Management/Recruitment unit. Kaylah Jenne
has agreed to join the team, beginning this Monday. She will
be working with us over the summer. Craig, Ashley and I will
be introducing her to those who may not be familiar with
her.
What's been happening?
Several faculty members have been traveling internationally
to many different countries, taking with them our recruitment
materials and presentations. Thank you to Dr. Asiedu, who
is currently in Armenia, just returned from Ghana; Brian
Crouse, who is in India; and, Drs. Pruski, Tennessen, Ronquillo,
Prithiviraj, Benkel and Glover have all returned
from Japan. Domestically, Juila Lindsay has done an amazing
job of organizing our Saltscapes display and the PEI Garden
Show. Thanks to Julia and all of her volunteers! This past
weekend, Carollyn Crewe, Lauranne Sanderson and Ashley Shepard
set up a display booth at the first Horse Expo, here in Truro.
Thanks again equine crew! Craig has been attending several
career fairs. A huge thanks to the Recruitment Promotions
Committee for your dedication over the past year! It has
been successful!
Finally, Congratulations to Engineering on the commercial!
Way to go!
Until next time!
