MacRae Library Photography Exhibit Features the Faces of Farming
Photographs of farmers who are implementing environmentally sustainable practices will grace the walls of the MacRae Library at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College from January 2 - 31, 2008. The Faces of Farming exhibit presents portraits of 26 farmers from across PEI, six of them graduates of NSAC. The photographs in the exhibit were taken by well-known Island artist and photographer Alanna Jankov.
The exhibit is sponsored by the PEI Enhanced Environmental Farm Plan (EFP) program, a federal-provincial initiative that helps farmers develop a practical plan for operating their farm in an environmentally sustainable manner. John Jamieson, Communications Coordinator for the EFP program said the exhibit is intended to present a positive image of agriculture. “The photographs tell a story. They tell a story of Island farmers who understand that how their farming practices have an impact on the environment and what they can and are doing to protect the environment.”
Jamieson said the exhibit is a positive “good news” story for the agriculture industry.
