Still time to make a donation to NSAC for the 2007 tax year
There is still time to make a donation to NSAC AND get a tax
receipt for the 2007 calendar year. There are many really worth
causes waiting for your support, so if you have not replied
to the annual appeal, please take a few minutes and do so today.
In addition to mailing a cheque in, there is a new and easy
way to make donations to support the students and programs
at NSAC. Our online donation page on the NSAC website is waiting
to accept your donation. Just go to http://nsac.ca/donate and
follow the instructions. Your donation will be acknowledged
immediately and will be followed up with a receipt that can
be used for income tax purposes. Remember, as long as we receive
the donation before January 1st or it is postmarked by that
date, we will write the receipt for 2007.
Please consider supporting NSAC with your donations. The students
at NSAC need your support.

assumes the duties of the Manager in his absence. Tony is not
new to the department, he began as a casual in May of '95 and

Parking Reminder During Winter
Winter is upon us, this is just a reminder for the divisions
on campus that have vehicles sitting for long periods of time.
If these vehicles are not being moved or are seasonal vehicles,
please move them into the compound at Cox Institute or the
upper parking area above Banting. This will allow for additional
parking on campus.
In order to accommodate the snow removal teams, please ensure
that all operational vehicles are moved around to other parking
spots after a snowfall, so that the snow and ice does not accumulate
in parking areas.
Hello from Recruitment
It's been a few weeks since my last update and that is because
we've been super busy and travelling. Craig and Ashley have
started their well deserved holidays and have had a great
few months on the road. Our prospective student database
is 250 more than last year at this time! That is the result
of great planning, teamwork and professionalism.
Thanks to
all who have helped out this term with our events, strategy
sessions and trips. I've just returned from Connecticut, Massachusetts
and Maine, where I, along with Rebecca Harrison, visited
several FFA schools. We've generated some serious prospects,
mainly in grade 10 and 11, with a couple of applications
from grade 12. This focus on FFA schools is certainly the
competitive advantage NSAC has over other universities, both
in Canada and the USA. Since these students are already in
agricultural programs and are attending smaller high schools,
NSAC is a perfect fit. Meeting with Guidance Counselors, Career
coaches, FFA Administrators and Ag. Department heads were
also part of the strategy for this past week and I've been
invited back with enthusiasm.
NSAC's popularity is certainly
growing! See you next term! Remember - University Day is
in March.
Have a safe and happy holiday!

Computer Network Upgrade
NSAC is about to undertake a major upgrade to it’s computer
network in the coming weeks. This upgrade will include replacement
of the core network switch located in the Extension Engineering
building as well as the building switches located in Banting,
MacRae Library, Cox Institute (Old and New), Haley Institute
and Cumming Hall.
The following is the schedule of planned outages during this
upgrade:
December 16, 2007 - Cox Institute (Old and New) and Athletic
Centre, 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon
December 22, 2007 - Affects all buildings, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00
p.m. outage
December 21, 2007 - MacRae Library and Banting 8:00 AM to 4:00
PM
December 27 and 28, 2007 - Cox, Athletic Centre 8:00 a.m. (27th)
to 4:00 p.m. (28th)
December 29, 2007 - Haley Institute 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
December 31, 2007 - Cumming Hall 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon
Please note that any and all requests for changes to the network
(patching, relocates, etc) will be completed by December 19th,
2007. Any request for these services after that date will be
looked at after January 2nd, 2008. This freeze allows our staff
to complete the network upgrades based on the schedule noted
above.
The remaining campus buildings will also be getting new network
switches in January 2008. We will be posting a schedule for
all of the remaining building upgrades and required outages
in early January.
If at any time you have any questions regarding this project,
please contact Dave Miller at 6231 millerdl@gov.ns.ca or John
Sullivan at 6175 or sullivjl@gov.ns.ca.
