NSAC University Day 2007
Welcome back to a new and exciting year at NSAC! As Student
Recruitment Coordinator, I would like to extend a thank you
on behalf of Brian, Craig, Nick and myself for your continuing
support of the Recruitment Team. Last year, the team saw an
incredible momentum build between faculty, staff and our department
in efforts to attract new students to NSAC. As reported, we
did see an increase in first year student numbers for 2006 and
already this year, an increase of pending applications for September
2007. University Day is always our largest on campus event and
we are asking for your assistance again. This year, it will
be held on Monday, March 5th.
As we begin this next few months of Recruitment activity, I
am happy to report that plans for University day 2006 are moving
right along. We are currently working on the promotional materials,
on-line registration, itinerary and mail-outs. As the plan comes
together, I will be contacting all departments in order to schedule
guest speakers, program tour guides and those who will set up
a booth at the EXPO.
University Day is a great opportunity for faculty and staff
to meet prospective students and help them make final decisions
about their programs or even introduce them to new ones. This
day is dedicated to providing future NSAC students with all
of the information they need to make informed decisions about
their academic and non-academic choices, from classes to clubs
and sports.
I look forward to planning this event with you and will be in
further contact as the date draws near.
All the best!

Who Selects Books for the Library?
Academic Departments each have responsibility for identifying
materials to purchase in support of courses being offered, and
to ensure that the allocation is spent fairly, reflecting their
academic priorities. A budget is allocated through a formula
developed by faculty serving on Faculty Council’s Library
Committee and each academic department Library Liaison manages
the acquisitions budget for their department.
If you have a suggestion for a book purchase you may submit
it to the library which will forward it to the appropriate academic
department for a decision, or you can talk directly to the Library
Liaison. These are: Environmental Sciences: Prof. Vilis Nams;
Business and Social Sciences: Prof. Steve Russell; Plant and
Animal Sciences: Prof. Nigel Firth; Math, Physics & Engineering:
Prof. Nabil Rifai. The library maintains "Wish Lists"
when the budgets for the current year are spent, which is reviewed
and prioritized in the next fiscal year.
Thank you,
Sherree Miller
