Women’s Institute Buy Local Challenge
Report Released
The findings of the Women’s Institute (W.I) Buy Local
Challenge Survey were released on Feb.20th, 2007, during Women’s
Institute Week. The report was prepared by Dr. Steven Dukeshire
and Renee Garbes of the Rural Research Center, Nova Scotia Agricultural
College (NSAC), in collaboration with the Women’s Institute
of Nova Scotia. The report is a component of the larger W.I.
Buy Local Challenge Campaign.
More than 2400 surveys were completed by individuals across
Nova Scotia. Surveys were distributed at local farmers markets,
fairs, and other public events across the province during 2006.
The goal of the survey was to assess consumers’ beliefs
and attitudes about buying local foods and the factors that
impact whether or not they buy local. Complete
