Recruitment Update
Well, the numbers are out and I want to thank all who have
contributed to a very successful recruiting year! As we all
know, Recruitment works endlessly to make sure each and every
prospective student is attended to. School visits, campus tours,
letters and follow-up phone calls from faculty all make the
difference!
So,
here I go, asking for all department heads to gather with your
staff and faculty and come up with a list of possible recruitment
venues. By this I mean – can you please send me a list
of places and dates you would like us to go to promote your
department. For example, last week, Craig went to Cape Breton
on behalf of the Aquaculture Department.
To make sure we are all ready for this year, I would like to
call a Recruitment Advisory Committee meeting. I encourage each
department to choose someone as a representative. I know that
we are all extremely busy - but let’s remember - without
students, we have no job. So, let’s not stop the momentum!
We need your help in bringing more students to campus via HSIP
in November, 4H programs, Campus Tours, University Day etc.
Last year, Brian and I met with each department – with
good results. It’s time to touch base and have another
meeting, so be prepared – I will be calling you!
Both Nick and Craig have reported that over the past two weeks,
they have spoken to more students and have given more information
out compared to previous years. I have had more telephone calls
from teachers, parents and guidance counselors than I can remember
having in the past and, we are already receiving applications
for HSIP.
This will be an amazing year for NSAC! All the best!

TAG Fund-raiser
The Teaching Associates Group (TAG) is holding a draw for a
beautiful tie-dye West African tablecloth. All the proceeds
will go to the local committee of WUSC (World University Service

The cloth will be on display in various buildings and workplaces
around campus until the draw date of November 17. The dimensions
of the 100% cotton cloth are 4 ft by 8.5 ft, so will fit most
tables or could also be made into a unique piece of clothing!

Marketing Campaign 2006
As part of our recruitment efforts for 2006, NSAC will be providing
a Virtual Campus Tour for prospective students on the NSAC Website.
Allura Communications Ltd is coordinating this effort and will
be on campus on October 3rd and 4th gathering
footage of the campus, student life, classes, labs and more.
This virtual tour is meant to provide prospective students with
a taste of what it might be like to live in Truro and attend
the NSAC.
The tour will be led by VIC, our Virtual Interactive Counselor
and will be filmed in a guerilla-cam style and format.
We hope you will welcome and support VIC and his team on October
3rd and 4th while they are on campus.
Any questions, please contact Lucy Uberoi at 6527 or by e-mail
at luberoi@nsac.ca
