Announcement
We are pleased to announce that Soil Foodweb Canada
East Ltd. is open for business. We are now receiving
soil, compost, and compost tea samples at our Halifax lab. We
are also available for consultations. For more information,
call Dr. Jason Hofman at (902) 421-5696 or email
info@sfce.ca.
Our website is under construction and should be up and running
soon. Visit us at www.sfce.ca.
Also, watch for seminars and workshops over the winter months.
We plan to hold several. You can watch our website or ask us
to put you on our email list to make sure that you don’t
miss these announcements.
For those of you who are not familiar with us, Soil Foodweb
Canada East Inc. is a Canadian-owned affiliate lab in the Soil
Foodweb Inc. (SFI) network started by Dr. Elaine Ingham of Corvallis,
Oregon. We test the microbial life in soils, compost, and compost
tea. The basic concept is that plants grow best when the ecology
of the soil in which they are growing is right for them. For
instance, a forest soil is fungal-dominated and much different
from a farmer's field, where the bacteria-fungus ratio favours
bacteria or is at best evenly balanced. Our testing allows growers
to alter the ecology of their soils to match the crop they are
growing, through the application of the right types of compost
and compost tea. The soil foodweb approach allows growers to
maximize yields and optimize plant health without the use of
commercial fertilizers and pesticides.
For more information, visit Dr. Ingham's website at www.soilfoodweb.com,
or call us at 421-2733.
