Open House 2006
NSAC's annual Open House took place on Thursday July 27th.
The Open House consisted of a day filled with sun, garden tours,
aquaculture demonstrations, quilting and hand-crafts, wagon
rides, Red Cross demonstrations, variety show with music and
dancing, Barbecue and much more!
In an e-mail written to us by Grace Burtt-Dykstra, she expressed
her feelings of Open House 2006. "On behalf of myself,
my husband and my grandchild Charlie, (five years old) I would
like to take this opportunity to thank NSAC for another wonderful
Open House. Charlie was keen to look through the microscopes
at the bugs - good and bad, he enjoyed petting the sheep and
he loved the hay wagon, (we appreciated the ride!).
Please pass on our many thanks to the staff who made it all
so very special for us."
Help us Announce New Staff
As one of the main communication tools for NSAC, E-bulletin
can be used for all sorts of things. It is a great place to
let campus know about new staff, changes of jobs or retirements
for example. Help us by sending in a quick announcement when
someone arrives (or leaves). It does not have to be long, just
a couple of lines or a paragraph about them would be fine. A
picture would also be great if you have one.
There are a lot of changes going on... send your items to news@nsac.ca

appreciated and tickets to the BBQ would be supplied.

Recruitment Update
Hello!
This has been an eventful few weeks in Recruitment, where Craig
and I have toured prospective students from many out of town
areas: Boston, Montreal, Halifax, Bridgewater etc. It seems
that our reputation as the “place to be” is gaining
speed!!
We were happy to help with Open House and have been working
to end the celebrations with a bit of flair. On Saturday, we
treated Alumni to a delicious breakfast at the Truro Farmers’
Market. Rocky the Ram was on hand and Heather Rogers helped
with meeting, greeting and feeding our Alumni. All of us Aggies,
who are present at the Market, week to week, wore the bright
orange t-shirts to identify us as proud Alumni, staff and students
of NSAC. Thanks to all who’ve helped with this event (Jim,
Alisha, Heather and James) – it was a great success and
we had fun!
Brian attended the Noel Lovetz conference in Denver and will,
I’m sure, have a great report when he returns from vacation.
I’ve also been working on hosting a group of Guidance
Counsellors from New England. They will be on campus at 9:30,
Friday August 4th. Craig, Mark Mason and I will be giving presentations
on NSAC during breakfast and then will be touring the group
around campus. I will be reminding departments of the tour as
we approach the date, and am asking that we have staff on hand
to give a small tour of their area and talk briefly about their
program(s). This group is quite important to NSAC as we are
focusing recruitment efforts in the New England area, where
Craig has already established relationships with prospective
students, their families and counsellors.
Hope you had a wonderful weekend of sunshine!

Photo of the Week

Jenna Tingley chats with Heather Rogers as she lends a helping
hand at NSAC's Alumni Breakfast at the Truro Farmers Market
on Saturday morning. Thanks to Monica and her team for all of
their hard work, the breakfast was a huge success with many
NSAC Alumni showing up for a great feast!
