Fight Fatigue With Short Energy Breaks
Too pooped to pop?
Avoid energy drains and use the following tips to put the spring
back in your step.
By Jean Lawrence WebMD Medical News Reviewed By Brunilda Nazario,
MD
Does even sleeping make you tired? You're not alone. In fact,
the CDC says we are far more exhausted than previously thought
-- 2.2 million people from all ages and education levels suffer
from marked fatigue lasting more than six months.
Being drained is no longer the trendy domain of overstressed
yuppies -- fatigue is affecting everyone, rich and poor, educated
and non-educated, and collars of all colors. And it takes a
toll on us emotionally and physically.
"This is an epidemic of exhaustion spreading through our
country," says internist Jacob Teitelbaum, MD, a clinician
who himself suffered from chronic fatigue syndrome in the 1970s,
inspiring him to study the disorder ever since. Teitelbaum also
authored From Fatigued to Fantastic.

Letter of Regrets - Dr. Garth Coffin
I regret that I will be unable to attend the celebration of
NSAC's research capacity. However, I would like to take this
occasion to congratulate all those who contributed to the building
of this capacity, and there were many. It has been very satisfying,
both during my term as Principal, and since then, to witness
the continued growth of the research capacity at NSAC. It is
particularly gratifying to see the Canada Research Chairs coming
on board with fresh energy and ideas and providing leadership
along side those who have been laying the foundation for research
at NSAC over the years. I salute everyone who invested the extra
effort required to take advantage of federal and provincial
programs to modernize and expand the facilities and to strengthen
the human resources to ensure NSAC's continued contribution
to the future of agriculture and food in Atlantic Canada. Congratulations
and best wishes for a successful celebration event.
Sincerely
Garth Coffin
NSAC Christmas Party
No its not Christmas in July! The NSAC staff Christmas party
has been tentatively booked for December 10th in Jenkins Cafeteria

leadership of the planning process and inject some fresh ideas.
Perhaps you aren't interested in leading the process but are
interested in helping out, either way, please contact Judy Grant
at
jgrant @nsac.ns.ca and
let her know.

Canada Day 2005
Canada Day is an important celebration in the Village of Bible
Hill. For almost 25 years, the Village of Bible Hill has worked
closely with community partners to plan, promote and celebrate
the country's birthday.
This year the Bible Hill Canada Day committee is planning a
large street parade as well as a family fair that will include
musical entertainment, children's activities, raffles, a cake
auction and other exciting events. We expect to host as many
as 5,000 people during this event.
The theme for this year's Canada Day parade is "celebrating
agriculture - 100 years and growing with the Nova SCotia Agriculture
College" a choice made in celebration of our centennial
year. Along with marching bands and fire brigades , local businesses
and organization are being invited to enter the parade with
floats and displays.
As well, NSAC President, Dr. Philip Hicks will be Parade Grand
Marshal for 2005. Please come out and support Canada day festivities
in the Village of Bible Hill, July 1, 2005.
Blueberry Insect Outbreaks – June
3, 2005
There have been reports of various lowbush blueberry insect outbreaks
throughout Nova Scotia in crop and sprout fields. High counts
of spanworm have been reported. If producers have not already
done so, it is critical that all producers begin monitoring immediately
for spanworm and flea beetle in their sprout and cropping fields
as well as looking for damage to their plants. Refer to the Wild
Blueberry Handbook or the AgraPoint Insect and Disease Management
Schedule
(http://www.agrapoint.ca/publications/Blueberry_Guide_v2005.pdf)
for sweep netting procedures, action thresholds and product recommendations.
