Gefu Wang-Pruski received the Best Presentation Award for the
Graduate Student Competition at the Potato Association of America

NSAC Returns in Force to Provincial Exhibition
After a long absence, NSAC will again have a strong presence
at this year’s Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition.
The university’s exhibit, housed in the Agridome, is
themed “Science applied to life.” The interactive
display will help visitors understand how NSAC’s work
and research impacts the lives of everyday Canadians. It takes
visitors from sunrise to bedtime, showing how our many experts
are touching every Canadian and many abroad.
In addition to the exhibit, NSAC has scheduled seven 20 minute
interactive sessions with the public. Our experts will talk
about issues of interest, at a level everyone can understand.
Have a look at the schedule:
Tuesday
1:00 Farmed Fish: Safe to Eat with Paul MacIsaac
4:00 Agri-CSI: DNA Extraction with Jacqueline Yuill
Wednesday
1:00 The Bug Wars with Glen Sampson
4:00 What’s in your Freezer: The Science of French Fries

to the Ex? Come and visit the booth or take a seat in the stands
to hear from your favourite NSAC presenter. For more information,

NSAC Website- Front Page Promotional Policy
The PR Office has developed a policy to guide the posting of
various news and event items on the front page of the NSAC web
site.
The NSAC website is a key sales and positioning tool for the
university and as such its usage is primarily geared to prospective
learners. Its organization is gauged around the needs and preferences
of this primary group with consideration given to sub-groups
such as other partners, alumni and associates.
A key design element provided on the front page of the site,
is frequently changing photo-links that allow the university
to promote and highlight key events and activities of the institution.
These links, currently limited to three, will change frequently
to provide fluidity and movement to the site. Research shows
that dynamic page content increases the likelihood of repeat
visitors to a site.
More specifically, these links will:
1. promote key successes, upcoming events/conferences and other
related news of the university;
2. disseminate information in a way that reflects a standard
of quality commensurate with the university;
3. be updated in a frequent and timely fashion;
More information on the policy can be obtained by contacting
Stephanie Rogers.
