Another Amazing Student
Story
NSAC would like to congratulate Carla Shaw. She has
been awarded a prestigious PHARE (Public Health and Agricultural
Rural Ecosystem) Fellowship for the duration of her M.Sc. at NSAC.
The fellowship is valued at $18,000 per year. As part of this Fellowship,
Carla will be involved in a special public health training program
with other fellowship recipients from across the country. This is
a first for NSAC! The Public Health and the Agricultural Rural Ecosystem
(PHARE) program is designed to support students at the Master’s,
Ph.D. and post-doctoral level in studies directed towards the promotion
of health and prevention of illness in rural communities. PHARE
participants are required to take an online course based from the
University of Saskatchewan as well as attend a virtual monthly seminar
each semester of support and participate in the program’s
annual conference. Upon completion of the requirements for the PHARE
program, Carla will receive a certificate in Public Health and the
Agricultural Rural Ecosystem which will provide recognition and
proof of special training. This is the first time an NSAC researcher
has been inducted into the program. For more information on the
program visit http://iareh.usask.ca.
