MOU signed with Brock University
The Nova Scotia Agricultural College, a leader in agricultural education
and research, is pleased to inform you of a proud new partnership
with Brock University and its Cool Climate Oenology and Viticulture
Institute in St. Catherines, Ontario.
This partnership agreement will allow NSAC students admission into
Brock's oenology (wine-making) and viticulture (grape-growing) program
after one or two years spent studying at the NSAC. The agreement
with Brock will also facilitate student and faculty exchange as
well as credit transfers. A driving force behind this effort has
been the growing wine industry in Atlantic Canada which hopes to
ensure the training of qualified professionals interested in working
in the region.
Please help us to celebrate this exciting development by joining
us at the official signing ceremony and reception to be held Monday,
June 23rd, 2003 beginning at 11:00 a.m. in Cumming Hall.
RSVP to Theresa Blois at (902) 893-6720 or by e-mail at tblois@nsac.ns.ca

Ag Zone June 6th, 2003
More than 300 Truro and area students and teachers attended the
first Ag Zone which was held at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College
on Friday, June 6th , 2003. The program was presented by the Nova
Scotia Agricultural Awareness Committe in partnership with the Nova
Scotia Agricultural College. Throughout the day students and their
teachers were introduced to Nova Scotia Agriculture and the Nova
Scotia Agricultural College through hands on, interactive learning.
While here the students visited five stations which included the
College Farm, the Aquaculture Center, Environmental Science program
in Cox, Innovations in Engineering in Banting and the Ag Zone which
was located in the Athletic Center and included a variety of Ag
Awareness activities.
The students enjoyed lunch in the Athletic Center and finished
it with a desert auction. The competition was fierce for some of
the items and students learned how an auction operates.
Overall the day was a great success and comments have been very
positive from both teachers and students. A quick evaluation from
one class of grade fours included comments like : "Really good
day, Best day of the month, Very interesting, Best day of grade
four, Even better than the Shubie trip, Awesome, Loved it"
This was a great partnership for the Ag Awareness Committee and
we hope it will be the beginning of an annual event.
