Dr. Patricia Ripley to Speak at NSAC

Dr. Patricia N. Ripley, Deputy Minister of the Petroleum Directorate, will speak at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College on March 16th, 1999. Sponsored by the NSAC Class of '44, Dr. Ripley's lecture entitled "Natural Gas and the Atlantic Economy" will address the potential effects of Sable gas on our regional economy.

Dr. Ripley was appointed Deputy Minister to the Premier's Office, Deputy Minister of the Priorities and Planning Secretariat as well as Deputy Minister of Communications Nova Scotia in October 1998. She was Deputy Minister of Housing and Municipal Affairs from April 1, 1996 to October 1998. She was also Deputy Minister of Community Services from 1991 - 1996.

Prior to her appointment as Deputy Minister, Dr. Ripley has held various senior level positions in the social services field including Provincial Home Care Coordinator and Acting Executive Director of the Disabled Persons Commission. She has taught at the University of New Brunswick, the University of Windsor, McGill and Acadia. She has been widely published on military history, political science and food and wine.

The Class of '44 Lecture is an annual event, open to the general public as well as staff and students at NSAC. Thanks to an endowment created by the Class of '44, admission is free. The lecture, followed by a reception, will take place in the NSAC Alumni Theatre at 7:30 p.m. on March 16th , 1999.
