NSAC has set tuition fees for the 2011-2012 academic year. Like most universities in Nova Scotia, an increase of three per cent will see tuition rates for degree programs increase by $16 per course while technical tuition will increase by ten.
“Our tuition rates are competitive with other university science programs in Nova Scotia,” said NSAC Co-President Dr. Leslie MacLaren. “We look at every option to control tuition fees because we know the financial burden it places on students and their families.”
NSAC tuition rates continue to be amongst the lowest in the province making NSAC one of the most economical choices for science-minded undergraduates.
“Our tuition fees reflect the reality of every university across Canada,” she added. “In an environment of increasing system costs and growing enrollments, some increase in tuition is necessary to cover the cost of good quality educational programs for students.”
NSAC continues to provide an enhanced scholarship and bursary program for students.
Last year, nearly $1 million was awarded to one-third of the student body. The proposed merger with Dalhousie University is not expected to impact this program.
NSAC is a specialized university that cultivates learning and research, focusing on improving and sustaining our environment for the health and well-being of society.
