NSAC students named Academic All-Canadians
Three NSAC students have been named Academic All-Canadians by the Sport Information Resource Centre and the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association for combined excellence in collegiate athletics and academics.
Varsity soccer athletes Kent Mader,(New Germany, NS), Megan Turple (Middle Sackville, NS) and Trevor Seymor (Lower Millstream, NB) have been named to the Atlantic Colleges Athletic Association’s All-Conference Team and achieved honors of 80 per cent or higher in their academic programs.
"Our student athletes work very hard at maintaining high standards in both academics and athletics, @ said NSAC Athletic Director Judy Smith. A It is very rewarding to see them recognized nationally for their efforts."
This year, 21 student-athletes were recognized as Academic All-Canadians in the Atlantic region.
"We are proud of our Academic All-Canadians who have demonstrated their ability to combine high level scholarship with a strong performance in athletics," said NSAC Co-President Dr. Leslie MacLaren. "I congratulate them on their achievement and wish them continued success."
Awards will be presented during the university’s annual Athletic Awards Banquet, Friday, March 25th, 2011 in Jenkins Hall.
