NSAC to offer Animal Training with Heather Logan
A well-trained dog is a happy dog and no one knows this better
than Heather A. Logan, of Cloverfield Animal Behaviour Services
in Brookfield, NS.
Heather specializes in multi-species animal training and animal
behaviour consulting and will be teaching courses as part of
NSAC’s Diploma in Enterprise Management - Companion Animal
program in the Fall, as well as a new course through the Department
of Continuing and Distance Education entitled Operant Conditioning
Behaviour Analysis Level 1: Animal Training in the 21st Century
“
Operant Conditioning Behaviour Analysis has become the standard
of care and training in all facets of animal training and
husbandry and is used routinely with companion animals, livestock,
zoo animals and animals in research institutions,” explained
Heather. “It works with any species of animal and it
has the added benefit of being fun for the trainer and the
animal being trained.”
Heather has trained thousands of dogs during her career,
as well as many other species and has had the privilege to
study animal behaviour and training methods under some of
the best instructors in the world.
“Heather Logan is an excellent resource for the Diploma
in Enterprise Management - Companion Animal,” said Lauranne
Sanderson, Head of the Department of Business and Social Science. “She
is well loved by her students in the program for her wealth
of practical experience and experiential approach to teaching.
I am very excited about her new course offering in Operant
Conditioning that will be open to both NSAC students and members
of the public.”
Heather also designed and facilitates the Pawsitive Directions
Canine Program at Nova Institution for Women. Pawsitive Directions
introduces women offenders to the basics of dog training, grooming
and animal behavior while training service dogs for the public.
“
I am very excited that we will be able to offer a course specifically
on OCBA to the general public through Continuing and Distance
Education and that we have been able to incorporate it into
the Diploma in Enterprise Management curriculum as well,” added
Heather. “It puts NSAC on the leading edge of animal
care and training.”
