NSAC is No. 1 in research intensity among Atlantic Canada’s
16 universities for the third year in a row, according to Research
Infosource Inc. and its Canada’s Top 50 Research Universities
List.
“Research is one of the strategic pillars of the future
competitiveness and success of the agriculture and agri-food
industry in Atlantic Canada,” said VP Research, Extension
and Outreach Dr. Richard Donald. “And it’s this
research and innovation that will have a direct impact on our
local economy and worldwide,” he added.
NSAC is the smallest university on the list with only 66 full-time
faculty members but with $135,900 per faculty member, NSAC
ranks 16th nationally with respect to intensity and 5th of
those schools without medical programs.
Twenty-eight of the top 50 universities also experienced research
income increases that were higher than the national average
of six per cent, including NSAC. NSAC experienced a 31 per
cent increase in research income over 2008.
