Dr. Bernie
MacDonald welcomed to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Family!
NSAC Co-President and VP Administration, Dr. Bernie MacDonald
has been chosen as one of 12,000 Olympic Torchbearers in the
Vancouver 2010 Torch Relay. Dr. MacDonald will hold history
in his hands when he carries the Olympic Flame, helping to
create a path of northern lights along the 45,000 kilometre
journey of the Olympic Flame.
Dr. MacDonald will be carrying the Olympic Flame for a distance
of approximately 300 metres along Willow Street from Stonehouse
Motel and Restaurant to the Colchester Hospital on Wednesday,
November 18th beginning at 7:16 a.m. Congratulations!
Rise and Shine and Welcome
the Olympic Torch!
You are invited to welcome the Olympic Torch as it makes a
brief (1-2 minute) stop at the Trans Canada Trail pavilion
in Truro.
When: Wednesday, November 18th
Time: 7:15 a.m. (approximate and subject to change)
Location: Trans Canada Trail pavilion along the Cobequid Trail
at Willow Street (beside Needs/A&W at 210 Willow Street,
across from the hospital)
Please assemble at the pavilion at 6:45 a.m. (30 minutes before
the anticipated Torch arrival) to help ease the traffic flow
and prepare to welcome the Torch.
The Torch will stop at 25 TCT pavilions across Canada. This
is one of only two stops in Nova Scotia, the second being the
TCT pavilion in Port Hastings on Tuesday, November 17th at
10:52 a.m.
This Torch stop will provide an opportunity for trail volunteers
and supporters and invited TCT donors to raise the banner (literally)
to "Welcome the Flame" and take part in a brief photo
opportunity.
Please pass this invitation on to anyone you know who has
supported, or worked on building or maintaining, the Trans
Canada Trail and other trails in this region.
