NSAC

with the Christmas Tree Council of Nova Scotia.
NSAC will be involved in highly critical research
on Needle Retention in Balsam Fir trees. Dr. Lada,
in collaboration with Dr. Tom Smith, has initiated
Needle Retention Research.

Construction
is set to begin on the Atlantic Canadian Centre
for Poultry Research at the NSAC with the official
sod-turning to be held today, December 7th beginning
at 11:30 a.m.
The Centre, valued at over $10 million, will provide
teaching and research capabilities in all phases
of poultry production from hatching to value-added
product processing.

National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence
Against Women
The National Flag of Canada will be flown at half-mast
on the Peace Tower in Ottawa and on all Government
of Canada buildings and establishments across Canada
from sunrise to sunset on Tuesday, December 6, 2005,
to mark
the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence
Against Women.

NSAC Flags at Half-Mast
The NSAC family was shocked and saddened to learn
of the sudden death of NSAC professor Dale Cunningham,
at home on November 25th, 2005.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester
Community Funeral Home, Willow Street, Truro.
A memorial to celebrate his life will be held Monday,
November 28th, 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist
Church, with Rev. Andy Crowell officiating. A reception
will follow in the church hall. Family flowers only.
As an expression of sympathy donations may be made
in Dale's memory to the Hearth and Stroke Foundation
of Nova Scotia or First Baptist Church, Truro.
Improving
water quality and reducing greenhouse gas emissions
are the lofty goals of Graduate Research Training
Initiative fellowship recipient Charlotte Sullivan’s
research currently being conducted at the Nova Scotia
Agricultural College under the supervision of Professor
Ali Madani.
Awarded
$15,000 in January of 2005, Charlotte has been focusing
on the environmental impacts of stockpiling mink
manure and poultry litter......

The
Atlantic Canadian Centre for Poultry Research
will provide research capabilities in all phases
of poultry production from hatching to value-added
product processing. This centre will provide facilities
for the Atlantic Poultry Research Institute (APRI)
to coordinate poultry research among scientists
from Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada, University
of Prince Edward Island and NSAC.

Bible
Hill– A new innovative treatment for post-partum
depression has been developed for
rural women in Nova Scotia and a seminar being held
at the NSAC this Wednesday, will reveal some of
the highlights of the program.

Outstanding
academic performance will be honoured at the Nova
Scotia Agricultural College with the presentation
of more than $1,000,000 in scholarships and bursaries
to 265 deserving students.
The award presentations will be made on Thursday,
October 27th during the school's annual Autumn Assembly
program.
