Dr. Bernie MacDonald, Vice President Administration
Dr. Bernie MacDonald has been involved in the field of education
for many years. He is a graduate of the Nova Scotia Teachers
College,
the University of Maine, and West Virginia University, from which
he received a Doctorate in Education. In 1994, Dr. MacDonald
began
his career at Nova Scotia Agricultural College as the Vice
Principal Administration. In this role, Dr. MacDonald is responsible
for the development, direction and co-ordination of the policies
and procedures in the areas of:
- Financial and budget management;
- Human resource management;
- Staff training and development;
- Physical plant management;
- Purchasing administration;
- Campus safety and security; and
- Operations, such as the Bookstore, Mail Room and Daycare
Centre.
In addition, Dr. MacDonald chairs a variety of internal committees,
including: Financial and Physical Planning Committee (FPPC),
Grounds Policy and Traffic Control (GPTC), and the Bookstore
Advisory Committee. He is a member of the NSAC Advisory
Board,
NSAC Foundation and Faculty Council. He is President of AgriTECH
Park Inc., and serves on ad-hoc committees established within
the Dept.
of Agriculture to deal with special topics, as required,
and represents the President of NSAC on the Library Committee.
Dr. MacDonald is responsible for the preparation and management
of NSAC’s budget. He chairs the NSAC Budget Committee,
which is responsible for making recommendations concerning resource
allocation and ways to achieve annual budget targets.
As a member of NSAC’s Executive and Senior Management
Committees, the Vice President Administration provides leadership
and advice concerning the on-going requirements of NSAC in fulfilling
its role and mission as guided by the Strategic Plan.
