About NSAC
Nova Scotia Agricultural College is primarily an applied science
university for bright, young adults who are passionate about solving
problems in the wider world around them. NSAC helps students make
a difference because our hands-on, highly interactive approach
is both experiential and educational.
With a 100 year history, NSAC educates undergraduate, masters
and soon, Ph.D. students in the disciplines of science, agriculture
and the environment as well as offering competitive diploma-level
studies. Our difference lies in our integration of research
into every facet of our operations, including the education
our students receive. State-of-the-art lab equipment waits for
each student and they are taught by leading researchers who
are highly involved in their industries.
Instructors personally mentor students in small classes by
engaging them in real-world problem solving. NSAC students take
this knowledge out of the classroom and into the field where
they get their hands dirty, literally, applying academic principles
in practical situations.
And the results speak for themselves. NSAC is enjoying a five
per cent increase in overall enrolment.
NSAC also offers a guaranteed scholarship program for all entering
students with an 80 per cent average and presents more than
one million dollars in scholarships and bursaries annually.
For The Media
The Public Relations office is happy to provide information to
the media. If you cannot find the information you need on this
page, please call us at 902-893-7247 or by e-mail at srogers@nsac.ca.
We will provide you with the information you need or refer you
to the proper source for information quickly, respecting your
individual deadlines.
Media Access
In order to facilitate media relations, media are encouraged to
inform the Public Relations office, in advance of, or upon arrival
on campus, unless they have been specifically invited to campus.
This will ensure that media will have access to the areas,
buildings and people necessary to complete their story. Employees
of the university are asked to contact the department when media
crews and reporters are on campus.
For the safety and privacy of students, photography or videography
is expressly prohibited in classrooms, cafeterias and student
study areas and lounges, without the prior approval of the PR
office. We are willing to assist reporters, photographers and
videographers in accessing these areas for interviews and background
footage, but we need to make arrangements in advance with the
faculty or staff members in charge of academic areas.
The university recognizes the daily time constraints facing
the media and will endeavour to provide open and equal access
to all news media. The university will present particular features
to individual media representatives where a past interest was
expressed and will respect the exclusivity of a story initiated
by individual media representatives.
