Requesting new books or journals to be purchased for the
Library
Faculty and staff of NSAC may request the purchase of new
books or journals (print or electronic) through your department’s
library liaison. A “Book Order Request Form”
must be completed and authorized by the appropriate liaison.
Where can I obtain Book Order Request Forms?
Forms are available from the Departmental Liaison as well
as from the Acquisitions Department in the Library.
Is there any special information I should include
on the form?
Indicate if the book is to be put on Reserve. (Please,
also note the course number). Include a note if you wish
to be notified when the book is ready for circulation.
What do I do with my completed request form?
Please forward your request to your department’s
library liaison for their authorization. The department
library liaisons for 2010 are:
• Plant & Animal Sciences: Nigel
Firth
• Environmental Sciences: Chris
Cutler
• Business & Social Sciences:
Lauranne Sanderson
• Engineering: Alex Georgallas
What does the liaison do with the authorized request
form?
The liaison will send the completed form to Verna Mingo,
Head of Acquisitions & Serials at the Library for processing.
How long does it normally take for a new book or journal
to be received?
Two to six weeks.
Who do I contact if I have any questions regarding
the status of my order request?
Please contact Verna Mingo
(893-4581) if you have questions regarding the order.
If you have any special instructions (e.g. go on Reserve
when arrives, or “notify me upon arrival”)
please indicate that. Otherwise, you will not be notified
when the item arrives.
What if I want to recommend a new database subscription
for the Library?
Requests for new database subscriptions should be directed
to Elaine MacInnis,
University Librarian.
