About the MacRae Library
The NSAC Library building, officially opened in May 1983,
was renamed the MacRae Library in May 1990 in honour of Dr.
Herbert F. MacRae, former principal of the college. These
facilities contain over 50,000 monographs and documents and
approximately 24,000 e-journals.

The MacRae Library is a member of the following organizations:
As a member of ASIN, NSAC and the MacRae Library is allowed
reciprocal borrowing and return anywhere policies for Atlantic
University Libraris who are members of ASIN. It also allows
for in-person borrowing by faculty, students and staff at
any Canadian University Library.
General information about the MacRae Library
Special Collections
A special area, designated the "Agricola Collection"
has been set aside for agricultural items of value or historical
interest. Secured in this area are rare books, photographs
and a wide variety of farm implements. Selections from the
College's special collections are on display throughout
the year in the Lobby. For further information, contact
the Library Staff.

Books
The NSAC MacRae Library uses the Library of Congress Classification
System to organize its book holdings and shares the Novanet
catalogue with other NS universities. Access to the Novanet
online catalogue and WorldCat Local is available from the
Library web site from any PC (worldwide) with access to
the Internet.
Periodicals
Current issues of periodicals (journals) are on display
at the back of the Information Commons area on the main
level. Back issues of scientific journals are bound and
shelved alphabetically by title on the lower level. Certain
other titles are kept in storage for varying lengths of
time. Many periodicals are available online by searching
Resolver or WorldCat Local.
Reference Materials
Located on the main level, the Reference area houses reference
books, government documents and oversize collections.
