Agri-Entrepreneurship
Training in Ghana
CCPP Funded Project Through ACCC
1997-2002 |
|
NSAC and the Community Economic Development (CED) Centre
of the Nova Scotia Community College (NSCC) assisted
Tamale Polytechnic of northern Ghana in course design
and development of training modules in
agri-entrepreneurship. Other partners were the Ghanaian
National Bureau for Small Scale Industry, the Ministry
of Food and Agriculture, and the National Bureau for
Women in Development.
The project introduced entrepreneurial concepts and
skills to groups and individuals working in the
agri-food sector. This project focused mainly on women
in the northern region of Ghana and aimed to increase
the capacity of these women to improve their standard of
living.
Five different case studies were completed in Northern
Ghana and a training manual developed entitled
“Successful Agri-Entrepreneurship” (make this a link?)
an agri-entrepreneurship training manual for Northern
Ghana.
The case studies were entitled:

of the “Ti-Son Taba” Women’s group of the yarn weaving
section of the women farmers demonstration home, Nanton,
Ghana

Loan
repayment in the northern region of Ghana – The case of
the NBSSI

3) |
An in-depth
study on fish smoking – A case study on Kokopei
community in the Northern Region of Ghana
|

|
4) |
A
participatory approach to identify, analyses and solve
problems associated with reluctance of micro and small
scale entrepreneurs in keeping business records – A case
study of Tamale, Yendi, Dmango and Walewale in the
Northern Region
|

|
5) |
An analytical
study of the problem of marketing tomato produce from
the Tono-Navrongo irrigated lands of the upper east
region of Ghana
