General Information
NSAC Excellence in Teaching Awards
In 1994 the NSAC Faculty council instituted awards for recognition
of excellence in teaching. The Instructional Development
Committee administers this award process. Two awards may
be given annually, one to a faculty member, and one to a
technician. The awards are to be given in recognition of
contributions in teaching at NSAC over a number of years.
The presentation takes place at Spring Convocation.
It is no secret that NSAC is an institution with a strong
emphasis on excellent teaching. Many students and alumni
speak with fondness about instructors of the past and present.
One stimulus for a caring and competent atmosphere is the
genuine enthusiasm which exists for topics being taught,
and a strong desire to pass this interest on to others.
These awards are an important opportunity for members of
the NSAC community to publicly support and recognize our
excellent teachers. It is a way for both students and colleagues
to say "thanks" to a representative few of the
many who have been an inspiration and a help. We hope that
you will consider nominating a deserving candidate.
Activities that may be recognized by this award can include
(but are not limited to):
-
classroom and laboratory instruction
-
development of innovative teaching methods
-
production of instructional materials
-
supervision of students in research
-
contributions to student development outside the
classroom
-
curriculum development
-
professional development
