Claude E. Thompson

Claude E. Thompson of Oxford will long be remembered for his service
to the agricultural industry, social life of his community - a good livestock
farmer.
During the forty years Mr.- Thompson owned and operated Pine Haven Farm
he acquired the reputation of being a capable livestock breeder. His Jersey
cattle and Yorkshire hogs were recognized as outstanding animals at exhibitions
and in the market place.
Mr. Thompson was well known for his promotion of the agricultural industry.
Twenty-four years as Manager of the Cumberland Exhibition, five as a Director
of the N.S. Exhibition Association and one year as its President.
He had few peers in presenting agriculture to the general public and
few equals in bringing the producer and consumer together; encouraging
trust and understanding for their mutual benefits.
Mr. Thompson was also active in the social life of his town; the Masonic
(Wynburn) Lodge, President of the Oxford Curling Club, chancellor of Oxford
Lodge Knights of Pythius and President of the Kiwanis Club.
Atlantic agriculture recognizes his exhibits on their behalf by his election
to the Atlantic Hall of Fame.
