Robert R. McCain

In honouring Robert R. McCain, The Maritime Provinces Hall of Fame is recognizing the many contributions to the agricultural industry in New Brunswick and covering a wide range of activities made by this man over a period of well over thirty years, for his has been a busy and an active life.

A native of Florenceville, New Brunswick, who continued his education at the University of New Brunswick and at Dalhousie University, Mr. McCain's interests have been many and his capacity for leadership demonstrated in the many offices he has held and the positions of trust and responsibility he has filled. It can be truly said of him that in the performance of his duties and in carrying out the responsibilities of his office, he gave full value for what was expected of him.

The demands on his time by commercial, municipal, fraternal and community organizations and interests, were many but these, thanks to his administrative ability and capacity, he always managed to take in stride.

In the field of agriculture, Mr. McCain is recognized and will be remembered for his association with the international development and expansion of the multi-faceted McCain agricultural enterprise. He will be remembered, too, for the material assistance he provided in the development of the export marketing of seed and table stock potatoes and of Holstein cattle from the Maritime Provinces to many countries of the world.
