Robert R. McCain
New Brunswick
In honouring Robert R. McCain, The Maritime Provinces Hall of Fame is
recognizing the many contributions to the agricultural industry in New
Brunswick and covering a wide range of activities made by this man over
a period of well over thirty years, for his has been a busy and an active
life.
A native of Florenceville, New Brunswick, who continued his education
at the University of New Brunswick and at Dalhousie University, Mr. McCain's
interests have been many and his capacity for leadership demonstrated
in the many offices he has held and the positions of trust and responsibility
he has filled. It can be truly said of him that in the performance of
his duties and in carrying out the responsibilities of his office, he
gave full value for what was expected of him.
The demands on his time by commercial, municipal, fraternal and community
organizations and interests, were many but these, thanks to his administrative
ability and capacity, he always managed to take in stride.
In the field of agriculture, Mr. McCain is recognized and will be remembered
for his association with the international development and expansion of
the multi-faceted McCain agricultural enterprise. He will be remembered,
too, for the material assistance he provided in the development of the
export marketing of seed and table stock potatoes and of Holstein cattle
from the Maritime Provinces to many countries of the world.
