James Bremner

New Brunswick

Mr. James Bremner had many attributes that endeared him greatly to his friends and that earned him the respect and the admiration of his contemporaries. He was a Christian gentleman whose personal life was living proof of the daily practice of his Christianity.

As one born and reared on a New Brunswick farm, trained in the profession of agriculture at the Nova Scotia Agricultural College, and having devoted all his life to his profession - as a practical and progressive farmer, as a staff member of the New Brunswick Department of Agriculture, as a long-time employee of the Canadian Jersey Cattle Club, and as an active and enthusiastic member of many agricultural organizations - James Bremner always remained a constant advocate of better farming and better livestock.

His enthusiasm was contagious. He was an inspiring teacher and he had the happy faculty of infecting those with whom he came in contact with this enthusiasm and with his doctrine of good agricultural practice.

The organization and the development of the Harvey District of New Brunswick, recognized throughout North America as one of the leading Jersey centres on the Continent, is, in great degree, a product of Mr. Bremner‘s imagination and of his genius. As a livestock judge and livestock authority, he was outstanding and many are the breeders who have had the good fortune of having had Mr. Bremner assist them in the selection and in the management of their herd sires and their breeding stock.

Mr. Bremner’s record of achievement as Secretary-Manager of the Canadian Jersey Cattle Club is a record that speaks for itself - the record of a man who worked with great diligence and effectiveness - the record of a man who lent dignity to the profession of agriculture - the record of a man who added prestige to the office he filled so capably and to the organization he served so faithfully.
