Premier Darrell Dexter appointed economist and former Bank of Montreal executive vice-president Tim O'Neill to provide advice and recommendations to government on how to further strengthen Nova Scotia's university system. The O’Neill report was released on September 17, 20100.
The Report on the University System in Nova Scotia acknowledges the transition process under way at the NSAC. O’Neill recommends that the government should “consider integrating the Nova Scotia Agricultural College into Dalhousie University as the college ceases as a government entity.”
The possibility of NSAC merging with Dalhousie is now being explored by the two institutions and the Province of Nova Scotia. To find out more about merger discussions, please visit nsacdalmerger.ca. The work of the NSAC Governance Transition Project is consistent with this and other recommendations of the O’Neill report.
