The NSAC Governance Transition Project was to plan and carry out the specific steps that are required to achieve the smooth and successful transition to a more independent institution.
The project was overseen by the NSAC Transitional Board, with staff resources being drawn from the NSAC itself, seconded from the provincial government, and contracted.
The detailed planning phase for the project began October 14, 2009. The date for completion of the first phase of the transition project was May, 2011.
On May 20, 2011, The Minister of Agriculture announced the next-phase of devolution of NSAC out of government: discussions with Dalhousie University to initiate a merger of the two institutions.
