Programmable Muffle Furnace
This programmable muffle furnace is used for proximate analysis and torrefaction of biomass samples. The digital temperature control allows for precise and accurate temperatures to be obtained up to 1125°C. The capacity of the muffle furnace is 1.26 cu. ft. It is equipped with an injection port that allows an inert environment to be created within the furnace.

Analytical Balance
The balance is used to obtain mass measurements of the biomass samples for analysis. It is accurate to four decimal places with a maximum of 220g. The glass draft shield ensures accurate measurements.

Bomb Calorimeter
This bomb calorimeter is used in heating value calculations of biomass samples. The calorimeter utilizes a digital thermometer which measures in the range of 10-40°C with a resolution of 0.0001°C.

Dry Seal Desiccator
The desiccator is used to cool and further dry samples after they have been removed from the furnace. Airtight seal is created with a vacuum through the sleeve valve. The 250mm desiccator plate is made of aluminum.

Gas Analzyer
This gas analyzer is used to measure the amounts of Oxygen (O­­2) and Carbon (C). Knowing this information the efficiency, excess air, and Carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration can be calculated. External sensors allow the concentration of NO and SO2 to be measured.

Universal Testing Machine
This universal testing machine can be used to press single biomass pellets as well as test their strengths. It has a force capacity of 50kN (11240 pounds).
