National Sustainability Leader to Give Key-Note
Address

Eme Onuoha,
Director of Government Relations and Sustainability for Xerox Canada,
will address NSAC on issues of sustainability, weaving in some
of his extensive international development work. Mr. Onuoha is
extremely interested in the unique way we are developing our sustainability
initiatives. He will be speaking from 12:15pm to 1:00pm on January
22nd in Alumni Theatre.
Mr. Onuoha completed an honours degree in political science (international
relations) at McMaster University and an Executive MBA at Queen's
University. In his graduating year at McMaster, Mr. Onuoha served
as President of the McMaster Students Union. In 1994 he began work
on Parliament Hill in Ottawa as a Legislative Assistant and speechwriter.
In 1997, he left the House of Commons and began work as Special Assistant,
Trade and Consultation Policy in the Office of the Minister of International
Trade. Later that same year he became Policy Adviser to the Minister
of National Defence.
In addition to providing advice on strategic
policy issues and managing the minister's relations with his counterparts
in the North Atlantic
Treaty Organization NATO), his work took him to 19 countries around
the world including various peace-support operations in locations
such as Bosnia-Herzegovina, Yugoslavia, Haiti, Kuwait and Iraq.
In March of 1999, just prior to NATO commencing a full-scale military
operation in the Balkans, he was promoted to Chief of Staff in
the
Minister's office where he served until November 2000. Mr. Onuoha
has held several executive positions within the Government of Canada:
Senior Analyst in the Social Development Policy Secretariat and
Director of Operations in the Priorities and Planning Secretariat
of the Privy
Council Office, as well as Vice President Corporate Strategy and
Vice President Corporate Development at the Canadian Commercial
Corporation.
In 2007, Mr.Onuoha joined Xerox Canada Ltd. He is
currently responsible for federal government relations and sustainability.
Mr. Onuoha
is a recipient of McMaster's Honour "M" Award as well
as the Arch Award. He currently sits on McMaster's Board of Governors.
