Students Return to NSAC
September marks the start of another acamdemic year at NSAC. The
university welcomes close to 300 new students this semester. There
are the usual questions, fears and anxieties, but Student Services
and the student orientation leaders had lined up a week of activities
to help break the ice.

Dr. Bernie MacDonald, co-president, vice president administration,
addressed the future classes of 2010 and 2012 on Monday, Sept. 1.
Although NSAC is commited to providing students with a strong, applicable
education, Dr. MacDonald also made a point of telling the new students
that university isn't only about academic education.
"I encourage you to branch out and experience the thrill of
athletics or one of our many student organized clubs. Get involved
in a club or sport for good times, good experiences and the opportunity
to gain valuable leadership experience," said MacDonald.
NSAC also welcomes a large contingent of international students
from all over the world to the campus this fall. While most of these
students are arriving from China, other countries represented in
the international student contingent include the United States,
Mexico, Norway, Burundi and India. Many will stay in residence while
others have found accommodation in the local community.

Thirty new Chinese, undergraduate students arrived as part
of the NSAC articulation agreement with the Fujian Agriculture
and Forestry University (FAFU). These students will enter the
3rd year of the B.Sc. in Agriculture program, joining 14 undergraduate
and 12 graduate students from FAFU already studying at NSAC.
The total number of international students at NSAC has now climbed
to 80. |
“The presence of international students on campus and in
the wider community brings a truly global perspective that enhances
the academic and social experience at NSAC, says Co-President and
Vice President Administration Dr. Bernie MacDonald.
NSAC welcomes all students and says "thanks" to all the
people who will help make it a great year for them.
