NSAC
celebrates its 103rd convocation
NSAC celebrated its 103rd convocation on Friday, May 2, 2008. The
weather was overcast but the rain held off long enough for the graduands,
guests and faculty to make their customary parade from Jenkins Hall
to the Langille Athletic Centre where the convocation ceremony was
held.

The class of 2008 included close to 160 graduates. The valedictorian
was Matthew Vair, Truro NS, who graduated with a B.Sc. in Agriculture.
The Convocation ceremony also featured the presentation of awards
for teaching and research and the conferring of a Honourary Doctorate
in Laws to Dr.You Minsheng.
Dr. Harold Cook, Dean of Medicine Dalhousie University and NSAC
(Class of ’66) gave an inspiring address to the class.

Key award winners during convocation week included Debra McLellan,
Truro, NS Gold Governor General, Amanda Mae Smith, Picadilly, NB
Silver Governor General and Travis Charles Smith, Linden, NS Bronze
Governor General.
Bronze medals of distinction were awarded to Kathleen Atkinson,
Truro, NS, Bryce Drummond, South Freetown PE and Rachel West, Port
Williams, NS at the Graduation Banquet on May 1.
The class of 2008 included the first graduates from the Diploma
in Enterprise Management and the Veterinary Technology Program.
This year’s class also included the largest group to date
of graduates from the Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University
(FAFU).
