NSAC hosts the 2008 CCAA Women’s Basketball Championships.
 |
On Mar. 14-16 Bible Hill was host to several Rattlers, Timberwolves,
Cheetahs among others as top varsity teams from all over the
country converged at Langille Athletic Centre to go after the
gold. |
After three days filled with non-stop basketball action from eight
of the top teams from across Canada, Montreal's CEGEP de Ste-Foy
was named 2008 CCAA Women's National Basketball Champions. Halifax's
MSVU Mystics battled hard in the final game, often trading leads
with the Dynamiques. In the end however, the Mystics couldn't carry
their two season win streak over, losing to Ste-Foy by a score of
63-52.
The home team NSAC Rams went in to each game with heart. Although
they were unable to pull out a win, the experience however will
undoubtedly help the returning members of the team next year. Congratulations
to the Rams for making it as far as they did and fighting hard against
some highly skilled teams.
The 2008 National was the third CCAA basketball championship that
NSAC has hosted since 2006 and its twelfth since 1982.
Eastlink television was on hand to broadcast the bronze and gold
medal games via satellite so fans all across the country could be
part of the action.
