NSAC hosted 37th Annual Open House

Thousands of visitors flocked to the NSAC campus on July 24 when the university held its 37th annual open house. The weather cooperated and the event was very successful. Judging from the amount of smiles, visitors of all ages enjoyed themselves, and their feedback was very positive.

All departments had some sort of fun display or activity to engage open house guests: people rolled up their sleeves in the Aquaculture department which had interesting displays of marine life in salt water touch tanks. Environmental Sciences had displays on the chemistry of everyday life as well as an activity where visitors learned how to identify edible mushrooms and about growing their own mushrooms.

The Organic Agriculture Centre of Canada hosted an organic field day featuring grain variety and fertility trials, pumpkin trials, wireworm control and vegetable cropping systems. The Friends of the Gardens gave tours of the Alumni, Rock and Butterfly gardens and provided information. And of course, the ever-popular wagon rides, with stops around the university, gave open house guests the opportunity to tour campus the old fashion way. A great day was had by all!
